Health, Fire Department Install AED at Wayland Transfer Station
The automatic external defibrillator will increase the safety of the transfer station, one of the furthest public buildings in town.

WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Transfer Station just got a little safer.
The town announced Tuesday that the Health Department and Fire Department worked together to get an automatic external defibrillator installed at the Wayland Transfer Station. The department used Public Health Emergency Preparedness funds to pay for the AED, according to a Facebook post.
An AED is a device that can be used to administer an electric shock to restore the heart to a normal rhythm, according to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. They are used to treat people suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest can be deadly if untreated within minutes.

The two departments decided to install the AED at the transfer station because it is one of the furthest public buildings in town and serves a large number of residents, said the town's Facebook post.
Anyone with questions about the AED at the Wayland Transfer Station can contact Ruth Mori, Public Health Nurse at 508-358-3215, or Fire Chief Houghton at 508-358-6910.
