HISTORICAL CURIOSITY: THE HISTORY OF PUBLIC BATHS IN THE UNITED STATES (1840-1920)

The January T.E.D. Series kicks off with the historical curiosity presented by journalist, Sue Wagner: "Public Baths in the US (1840-1920)". Communal baths were nothing new to many parts of the world in the 19th century. For America, the wave of immigrants who chiefly settled in clogged and overcrowded cities, rickety tenements (many without hygienic amenities) presented a  massive challenge. Presentation and discussion.
