Investigators Search for Astley Murder Evidence Along Route 27, Other Locations

Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving says today's police presence is a routine part of the investigation into Lauren Astley's murder.

Investigators from the Wayland Police Department as well as the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council's Rapid Response Team will be highly present in town today as they perform a routine search for evidence.

Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving said the teams are working to make sure they haven't missed any evidence related to the murder of Lauren Astley, whose body was found in a marsh on Water Row Monday morning.

“[There will be] police officers walking up and down the road looking for evidence of the crime,” Irving said, adding that residents may see law enforcement officials on Route 27, Water Row or River Road.

“It's part of a routine investigation just to search the scene of the crime to make sure we get any possible evidence,” he said, noting that there is no reason for residents to be concerned.
