Dear Wayland Voter,

You have a choice this coming Election Day. I respectfully ask for your vote for Wayland’s Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, March 31.

I have worked for decades to improve this town that I love. I have worked collaboratively with hundreds of Wayland residents to move our community forward. I was elected to the School Committee for three terms (9 years) and then served for 10 years as chair of the High School Building Committee, guiding the $68 million project from feasibility to completion, under budget and ahead of schedule.

I am concerned about balancing our wide range of needs and wants with taxpayers’ ability and willingness to pay for them.

I think that the town is on the right track in several areas and support efforts to:

• Bring the community into the Town Center with a Council on Aging/Community Center, Rail Trail, and river-front passive recreation

• Increase and diversify housing stock with projects like River’s Edge that add to affordable housing and provide a downsizing option for seniors

• Continue to find ways to relieve the residential tax burden by increasing the commercial tax base consistent with the character of the town

• Find energy cost savings through projects like the solar arrays proposed by the Energy Committee

If elected, I will work hard for all the people in Wayland: young and old, taxpayers and school children, everyone. I would be honored to be your Selectman.

In appreciation,
Lea Anderson, Candidate for Board of Selectmen
