We are writing to enthusiastically support Jeanne Downs for election to the School Committee.

We have known Jeanne for 20 years, and believe she will contribute constructively and positively to the School Committee as we have seen her do in all of the many activities to which she has dedicated her talents through the years. As a former bank internal auditor, and the former head of the Disaster Recovery/Business Resumption practice at a big eight national accounting firm, Jeanne will bring pertinent expertise to the position.  She will exercise fiscal awareness and responsibility while striving to ensure Wayland’s outstanding educational reputation. Jeanne is a person who manages to effectively juggle numerous activities and responsibilities with poise and modesty. She is a respectful, fair-minded, independent thinker, qualities which would make her a valuable committee member. She takes on roles -- volunteering in her children’s classrooms and on their school PTOs, serving on committees at her church, for charitable and educational causes, swim team administrator and coach -- out of a genuine sense of wanting to contribute to the well being of the people and organizations around her. Jeanne’s long service in numerous volunteer positions within the schools, including President of the Middle School and High School PTOs, has given her meaningful insight into the administrative workings and culture of our school community.
