MARLBOROUGH, MA—Voters turned out for the Massachusetts state primary election on Thursday, Sept. 8, electing state representatives, state senators, councillors, sheriffs and other state positions. There were three contested races, all on the democratic ballot.
The polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 8.
Of the 22,178 registered voters in Marlborough, 2,046 voted in the state primary, accounting for 9.23 percent of voters.

Councillor, 3rd District: Marilyn M. Petitto Devaney, 802 votes; Peter Georgiou, 327 votes; William Bishop Humphrey, 166 votes
State Representative, 4th Middlesex District: Michael H. Ossing, 709 votes; Danielle W. Gregoire, 608 votes
State Representative, 13th Middlesex District: Carmine Lawrence Gentile, 273 votes
Sheriff, Middlesex County: Peter J. Koutoujian, 1,107 votes; Barry S. Kelleher, 302 votes
Republican Ballot:
Representative in Congress, Third District: Ann Wofford, 290 votes
State Senator, Middlesex and Worcester District: Ted Busiek, 289 votes
State Representative, 4th Middlesex District: Paul R. Ferro, 197 votes
