Memorial Service for Sally Jean Alexander, Longtime Wayland Teacher
Sally Jean Alexander, Mrs. A to her students, died in December. A memorial service for her will be held on June 29.
Sally Jean Alexander, 84, died quietly in her home on Dec. 24, 2012. A memorial service for her will be held on June 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Great Room at the Weston Community Center.
Alexander, Mrs. A to her students, was a long-time English teacher and track supporter at Wayland High School. She first came to the school as a permanent substitute for Earth Science, but went on to teach freshmen and sophomore English at for 30 years.
Alexander spearheaded the fundraising efforts that led to a new track at Wayland High School and was a founding member of the Wayfarers Track Club.
In addition to her track and education pursuits, Alexander was a long-time dog owner, standard poodles and Akitas, and trained them for Obedience Trials. She served for many years as chief trainer, president and treasurer for the Weston Dog Training. She also co-founded ARFF (Agility is Really Fun for Fido), and the Pets & People Foundation, which provides pet therapy to patients in nursing homes and hospitals.
Alexander was married for more than 50 years to Raymond Alexander and is survived by a large family.
