New Online Services At Wayland Library Amid Coronavirus Shutdown
New e-book access and genealogy research are some new online services the Wayland library is offering to cardholders.
WAYLAND, MA — You can't go inside the Wayland Free Library right now due to the coronavirus outbreak. But librarians are working hard to still make library's services easier to access.
The library recently announced a few new online services that cardholders can access while the library building is closed until at least April 7. Here's more from a library press release:

In order to provide relief to libraries and more content to patrons during this difficult time of sheltering at home, Hoopla has created a Bonus Borrows Collection with more than 1,100 top titles and Hoopla favorites: ebooks, e-audiobooks, movies, and more. Now through April 30, you can borrow any of these always-available titles with no debit against your monthly limit of five. To create an account, just go to waylandlibrary.org and click on the Hoopla logo.
New Remote Access to Ancestry

Ordinarily, you’d have to be in the library to use Ancestry.com, the most popular genealogy database. But soon (probably by the time you read this) you’ll be able to log in from home just by entering your card number. Then you’ll have access to Ancestry’s vast trove of census records, birth and death records, military documents, and more. This service will be available to Wayland residents only.
Noon Zoom
On April 10, the Noon Book Group will conduct its monthly session via Zoom, the online meeting app. The book under discussion is Typical American by Gish Jen. If you’d like to participate, email Andy Moore at amoore@minlib.net.
Weekly Facebook Live Storytimes
Join Ms. Carly for a Facebook Live storytime on the Wayland Public Library’s Facebook page. Children and their caregivers will listen to stories, sing songs, and perform fun rhymes and movements. March 31, April 7, 14, and 21 at 10:30 a.m.
