Nominations Pending for All Town Election Positions But One

With just over a week left until nomination papers are due to the Office of the Town Clerk, papers for every open position except one have been requested by potential candidates.

Only a three-year term on the town's Recreation Commission remains without a potential candidate. Current Rec Commission member Robert Virzi's term is expiring and he has not yet requested papers to seek re-election. Rec Commission member Asa Foster's term is also expiring, but his nomination papers had been returned and certified as of Feb. 1.

A single three-year term on the School Committee is shaping up to be contested, with potential challengers Donna Bouchard and Sumita Dutta having requested nomination papers to vie for the seat currently held by Shawn Kinney. Incumbant Kinney, however, took out his own papers on Feb. 1. None of the three potential candidates had returned the papers as of Friday afternoon.

In the race for a single seat on the Board of Selectmen, currently held by chairman John Bladon who will not run for re-election, Anthony Boschetto is the only candidate to have requested papers.

The only other newcomer who has withdrawn papers is Elisabeth Noel Brewer, who has returned her papers to run for a three-year term on the Board of Health. The seat is being vacated by Arnold Soslow, who has decided to not seek re-election.

A chart of the position's up for election, the names of potential candidates and the dates they requested and returned (if applicable) their nomination papers is below. In order to be eligible, candidates must obtain 50 certified signatures and return their nomination papers to the town clerk by close of business on Feb. 12.
