Two open houses are scheduled at The Children’s Way in October for families interested in enrolling in the school district’s early childhood program. The open houses are on Thursday, Oct. 23, and Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 8:45 am until 10 am. For the current academic year, families are encouraged to put their names on the wait list. Applications are being accepted for the 2015-16 school year.
The open house location is the Selectmen’s Hearing room in the Wayland Town Building, first floor, and the events will include a program overview, a chance to meet Director Cheryl Fertig, and program observation.

Open houses provide an opportunity to learn how early childhood education at The Children’s Way can promote each child’s learning and development. As part of its stated mission, Children’s Way teachers develop curriculum based on each child’s developmental level and unique learning style. During the classroom tours, parents can see teachers and children while they are immersed in daily activities and see how the curriculum is respectful of and tailored to diverse approaches to learning.
The Children’s Way has five classrooms and enrolls children as young as two years old. Half-day programs are for children who are two years old by Sept. 1, 2014. Hours are 8:30–11:30 am, and there is an optional “lunch bunch” until 1 p.m. For children who are three years old as of Sept. 1, 2014, hours may be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or they may enroll in the full day program, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with optional extended hours until 4, 5, or 6 pm.
