Police Make Second Arrest in Check Fraud Case

Police arrested Charles Slater of Wayland Tuesday morning in connection to a check fraud scheme they began investigating in early May.
Police say, Slater, 19, stole checks from his parents and gave them to his friend . Police arrested Sutherland on May 24.
On Tuesday, police arrested Slater, charging him wtih larceny over $250 by single scheme, larceny by check over $250, larceny under $250, uttering a false check, forgery of a check and larceny under $250.

Det. Sgt. Jamie Berger said it appears that Slater stole the checks from his parents and gave them to Sutherland. She then asked individuals to cash the checks, which were all written for more than $250. The individuals would comply, handing over the money to Sutherland, only to later discover the checks weren't good.
Slater was arraigned Tuesday at Framingham District Court.
