Search for Possible Missing Swimmer at Wayland Town Beach
Thursday afternoon, a call about a possible missing swimmer was reported. A search found nothing.

WAYLAND, MA—Rescue crews were called to Wayland Town Beach on Friday afternoon after reports that a woman may have gone missing while swimming.
At 1:57 p.m. on Thursday, police responded and learned that a woman, described as middle-age, wearing a one piece bright blue with floral print swim suit, had been swimming laps near the outer buoys at the beach. A lifeguard saw the woman and a very short time later saw that the woman was no longer there, said police. The lifeguard was unsure whether the woman left the water unnoticed or had gone under.
Lifeguards immediately began a systematic search of the area and were soon joined by fire rescue and police. The Wayland Fire Department put a boat in the water and police summoned a helicopter from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing to help with the search.
Nearby streets, parking areas and residences were checked and the beach was cleared to make sure no personal belongings were left behind that may indicate a person was still in the water. After searching the area for more than an hour, nothing was found, said Wayland police in a release.
