Soccer MVP To Be Presented At Halftime of Friday Basketball Game
A member of the state champion Wayland boys' soccer team will be crowned MVP during Friday's boys' basketball game.

Sports will collide Friday night at Wayland High School as a member of the state champion boys’ soccer team will receive the championship game MVP award during halftime of the boys’ basketball game.
Dr. John Buckley, NCAA rules Interpreter, will be on hand to present the Larry Briggs Award on behalf of the New England Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association.
According to soccer coach David Gavron, the winner of the award has not yet been notified he is the recipient and was voted to receive the award.

Gavron explained that Larry Briggs is known for starting organized high school soccer leagues in Massachusetts in 1959. He served as the first varsity men’s coach at the University of Massachusetts and founder of the Intercollegiate Soccer Officials,Association.
The Wayland boys’ soccer team won the Division 3 state championship 1-0 on Nov. 22, topping defending state champs Belchertown.
