The Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable Conducts Its Annual Shower for Shelters

Spring brings the promise of new
beginnings so it is especially fitting that the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln
Domestic Violence Roundtable will hold its annual Shower for Shelters from
Friday, May 2, 2014-Sunday, May 11, 2014. The public is invited to donate, new,
unwrapped items for families transitioning from domestic violence shelters and
transitional housing programs to help them set up new homes. Many of the
families have had to flee their homes with little more than the clothes on
their backs, and the many wonderful items collected during the Shower provide
some of the necessities of everyday life for these families. The gifts are also
a demonstration to the families that they are supported and cared for as they
take the steps to rebuild their lives free of abuse. Your donation sends a
powerful message of encouragement.

A partial list of needed items
include: Twin size sheets, pillowcases, summer blankets, comforters, and bed
pillows; crib sheets; bath towels and face cloths; cleaning products including
laundry and dishwashing detergents (anything without a scent and kind to the
environment); and laundry baskets. Flatware, water glasses, coffee mugs, pots
and pans, cooking utensils, small appliances (mixers, toasters, blenders, and
clock radios) and food storage items including sandwich bags and aluminum foil
are also needed. $5 and $10 Charlie Cards and gift cards to stores such as CVS,
Market Basket, Stop and Shop, Hannafords, Shaws and Roche Brothers are also
welcome. For a full list of items, please go to www.domesticviolenceroundtable.org .
