Tobacco Sting Nabs One Establishment In Wayland Sweep

A tobacco sting in Wayland yielded one establishment that sold to an underage person.

WAYLAND, MA — One of 13 establishments ended up in the ashtray this week in a tobacco sweep in Wayland.

On Thursday, March 23, the Wayland Police Department conducted tobacco compliance checks of local businesses that sell tobacco products. An underage youth was sent into these places, told to try to buy tobacco without showing an ID.

One the 13 establishments checked sold a tobacco product to the underage youth. Wayland Mobil, 315 Commonwealth Road, will be referred to the Wayland Board of Health for "enforcement action."
