Tournament Trajectory: Warriors Still in the Hunt

A number of Wayland High School teams remain in their respective MIAA tournaments

This weekend will signficantly thin the MIAA tournament teams as multiple games take place, several pitting a Wayland High School athletic team against a tournament foe.

Here's a quick look at the tournament situation as of Friday morning:

Baseball

The No. 14-seeded Warriors shocked Burlington, a No. 3 seed, Thursday, in a 5-4 win. The boys will next be in action Monday at 4 p.m. in the tournament quarterfinal against either Beverly or Belmont.

Lacrosse

Girls: The Wayland girls' lacrosse team (No. 3) has been on a roll, cruising through to the semifinals in the tournament. The girls' will take on either Marblehead or Bishop Fenwick in the semifinal round. The details of the game have not yet been announced.

Boys: The No. 4 seeded WHS boys' lacrosse team will face No. 20 Arlington in the first round of the tournament after crushing Southeast Regional in the preliminary round, 23-0. Saturday's match will take place at Wayland High at 5 p.m.

Tennis

Girls: The girls' tennis team, a No. 17 seed, will open tournament play today with a match against No. 16 Danvers. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Danvers.

Boys: Tournament play for the Wayland High boys' tennis team, a No. 2 seed, opens today with a home match against No. 15 Belmont at 3:30 p.m.
