Town Building Closed Monday, No Decision on Evening Meetings

Town Administrator Fred Turkington said the Wayland Town Building will be closed and non-essential town employees have been asked to stay home Monday in accordance with Gov. Deval Patrick's request.

Patrick asked during a Sunday afternoon press conference that all schools in the state be closed and private companies as well as government offices allow all non-essential employees to remain at home Monday as Hurricane Sandy bears down on New England.

Turkington said Wayland's emergency operations team will meet early Monday morning to make some additional decisions about town operations, including whether to continue with the Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works meetings scheduled for Monday night.

The School Committee is scheduled to hold its meeting in Boston Monday, and no announcement has yet been made regarding that gathering.

No announcement has yet been made regarding classes at Wayland Public Schools either. Superintendent Paul Stein said earlier Sunday that he was "likely" to make a decision on the matter later tonight.
