Volunteers Sought To Guide Electronic Voting In Wayland

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland is seeking residents to help guide the use of electronic voting at Town Meeting.
The Electronic Voting Implementation Committee, also known as ELVIS, advises the town moderator on the accurate and effective use of electronic voting and oversees its deployment at Annual and Special Town Meetings. Registered voters with experience in computer software or information technology are particularly encouraged to apply, the town announced on Thursday.
The five- to seven-member committee has also been asked to investigate remote participation at Town Meeting. Members may assist with preparing requirements for an electronic voting vendor, identifying potential bidders and evaluating the technical portions of submitted proposals.
ELVIS generally meets remotely at night three or four times per year, though meetings may become more frequent if state lawmakers approve remote Town Meeting participation. Applicants should be able to work collaboratively, and previous Town Meeting attendance is considered a plus.
Interested residents should send a letter of interest and resume to ELVIS Chair c/o Abigail Warren, executive assistant to the town manager, at execasst@wayland.ma.us. The moderator will schedule interviews by Zoom.
