Wayland Boy's Hockey Wins Sectionals, Advances to State Tournament

Wayland Boy's Hockey defeated Watertown in overtime Monday night to win the

WAYLAND, MA - The Wayland boys' ice hockey team is headed to the state tournament after beating Watertown monday night in the sectional finals of the MIAA tournament.

Wayland (6) beat Watertown (13) by a score of 2-1 in a game that went into overtime. The game was played at O'Brien Rink in Woburn.

On its path to the finals, Wayland beat Dracut 4-2, Latin Academy 4-0 and East Boston 7-3. Watertown, the lowest-seeded team in the tournament had wins over St. Bernards 5-0, Weston 8-1 and Shawsheen 5-0(SH).

Wayland will face Hanover Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at Gallo Arena in Bourne. If Wayland wins they will play for the MIAA State Division 3 championship at TD Garden on March 20.
