Wayland DPW Employee Arraigned on Child Rape Charges

A Wayland town employee is facing rape and assault charges in an "extremely disturbing" case.

A man who works for the town of Wayland is facing charges of child rape and assault.

Donald Gladu, 59, of Framingham, who is also a Department of Public Works foreman with the Town of Wayland, was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on charges of rape of a child by force (4 counts) and indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 (2 counts), announced the district attorney.

Gladu’s bail was set at $25,000 surety, $2,500 cash, with conditions of GPS monitoring and an order that Gladu stay away and have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family.

Gladu’s next scheduled hearing in Middlesex Superior Court is Wednesday, June 3.

“The details of the allegations against this defendant are extremely disturbing,” said District Attorney Marian Ryan in a release. “On multiple occasions, at several locations, the defendant allegedly raped this child. The victim has told police the abuse started when she was just five years old.”

Authorities say the alleged offenses began in 1998 and reportedly stopped in approximately 2006. The Natick Police Department investigated this incident.
