Wayland Forms Broadband, Cable Advisory Committee

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland is seeking five volunteers to help advise town officials on broadband internet and cable television services.

The volunteers will serve on the Broadband and Cable Advisory Committee until current contract negotiations are complete. The Select Board appoints the committee and it reports to it; the Select Board grants cable television franchise licenses and may help facilitate competition among broadband providers in Wayland.

Committee members will negotiate initial and renewed cable licenses with service providers and recommend whether the Select Board should approve the agreements. Members will also monitor providers’ compliance with license terms and conditions.

The committee will advise town organizations and residents on broadband and cable issues.

Residents interested in serving should email a letter of interest and resume to the Select Board, care of Abigail Warren, at awarren@wayland.ma.us.
