Wayland To Hold Public Forum On MBTA Communities
The public forum will be held Monday to discuss how the town will conform with the law, which requires multi-family housing districts.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland will hold a public forum on MBTA Communities on Monday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Council on Aging Room at Town Hall.
More information on the forum is included in the press release below from the Wayland Planning Board:
Wayland, like all “MBTA Communities” in Massachusetts, is required by state law to create zoning districts and a zoning bylaw for as-of-right multi-family housing. Proposed districts and the zoning bylaw must be adopted by Town Meeting and will be voted on at the Spring 2024 Annual Town Meeting. This new law will create the opportunity for the development of market-rate housing. More information can be found on the Planning Board’s webpage here. In preparation for Spring Annual Town Meeting, a public forum will be held on Monday, December 11, at 7:00pm at Town Hall in the Council on Aging room. The public in encouraged to attend in-person. The forum will also be live-streamed by Zoom; a Zoom link will be made available on the Town’s webpage here.
