Wayland Library Hosts Eco-Author Carrie Russell

Novelist Carrie Russell Appearing at Wayland Library June 13th

Author Carrie Russell will speak about environmentalism, fiction and her debut novel, β€œDrowning Cactus” at the Wayland Public Library on Saturday June 13, 2:00-3:30.

Drowning Cactus is a fast paced, funny novel following a cactus thief and an urban gardening instructor on a journey across the American landscape, from the Sonoran Desert to Walden Pond.

Russell, a 1996 graduate of Wayland High School, studied writing at Columbia and Oxford, and worked as an environmental advocate before she became a novelist. The novel is inspired by her experiences in some of America’s most remote and threatened wilderness areas.
