Wayland Library Hosts Eco-Author Carrie Russell

Author Carrie Russell will speak about environmentalism, fiction and her debut novel, “Drowning Cactus” at the Wayland Public Library on Saturday June 13, 2:00-3:30.

Drowning Cactus is a fast paced, funny novel following a cactus thief and an urban gardening instructor on a journey across the American landscape, from the Sonoran Desert to Walden Pond.

Russell, a 1996 graduate of Wayland High School, studied writing at Columbia and Oxford, and worked as an environmental advocate before she became a novelist. The novel is inspired by her experiences in some of America’s most remote and threatened wilderness areas.

Russell will be available to sign books and answer reader questions after the talk.
