Wayland Man Beat Wife With Book: Authorities

The alleged domestic abuse was reported by the staff at Newton-Wellesley hospital.

WAYLAND, MA - A Wayland man was arrested after beating his wife with a book and putting her in the hospital, according to a report.

Wayland Police arrested Peter J. Gentilotti, 62, at his home at 25 Castle Gate Road late Friday evening, the MetroWest Daily News reported.

Gentilotti’s wife told authorities he also assaulted her Thursday, but she didn't call the police, prosecutors said during a Monday arraignment at Framingham District Court. The domestic assault was reported by Newton-Wellesley hospital personnel after his wife went there for treatment.

Gentilotti was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery, according to the Daily News. His bail was set at $1,000 and he was ordered not to abuse his wife or drink alcohol. He is due back in court April 13.
