Wayland Now Offering Curbside Pickup Of Household Items
Like trash and recycling, Wayland residents can now have items like clothing and textiles picked up curbside.
WAYLAND, MA — Wayland residents now have an option to get rid of household items similar to putting out trash and recycling.
The town has entered into a partnership with the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation to offer curbside pickup of items like clothing, dishware, books, toys and other items.
The program will have multiple benefits, according to the town: saving otherwise useable household items from ending up in the trash, and offering residents a way to easily make a tax-deductible donation. The donations also help generate revenue for the foundation and the town.

"These collections help to reuse or recycle used clothing and other items while diverting unwanted materials from the waste stream. Donating clothing helps the environment, helps save taxpayers money and helps clean out your closets," the Wayland Board of Public Works said in a news release.
To participate in the new program, Wayland residents can schedule a home pickup by texting the word PICKUP to (508) 466-4590. You can also schedule a pickup by visiting the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation website.
