Wayland Officer Graduates from Police Academy
Lynnet Sloan has completed six months at the police academy.

The will welcome Lynnet Sloan home after her graduation from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police Academy on Nov. 2.
Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving said Sloan has spent the past six months training at the academy and will spend her first day at the Wayland police station on Saturday.
"We're looking forward to her start," Irving said.

Sloan brings the total number of officers on the Wayland Police roster to 21, and the number of female officers on the force to four. A full roster for Wayland is 22 officers, and Irving said he will be looking to add that 22nd officer some time in 2012.
Irving said Wayland Town Clerk Lois Toombs will swear in Sloan at the Monday, Nov. 7, Board of Selectmen meeting. Sloan will then spend the next several months in field training, meaning she will shadow another officer at the department.

In other personnel news at the Wayland PD, Irving said he expects to have a new youth officer in place by the end of November. That position has been vacant since Youth Officer Jim Forti retired in early January.
