Wayland Passes $76,759,962 Town Budget
Despite some opposition, the proposed budget for the town was passed on night one of Wayland Town Meeting.

Although a motion was made to reduce the town’s budget by $200,000, a line item for prepaid expenses in special education, the FY2016 budget was passed as written.
The motion to amend the budget was defeated by a 60-40 percent margin, and the original proposed budget of $76,759,962 passed.
Voters also approved articles to fund youth substance abuse prevention (estimated cost $88,400), OPEB funding of approximately $285,425, transfer of town funds for the current year, to pay unpaid bills from the previous years and Article 1, which moved to officially recognize those who have volunteered for the town.
