Wayland PD Welcomes New Officer
Officer Henderson was selected in January, but is sworn in this week.

Chief Robert Irving is pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy J. Henderson Jr. as a police officer with the Wayland Police Department. Officer Henderson was selected for this position in January. He attended the Reading Police Academy and graduated from the 5 1/2 month course on Aug. 5.
Henderson previously worked as a police intern in 2011 and was a police dispatcher from August of 2012 until he was offered the position of police officer. Officer Henderson attended Wayland schools, graduating from Wayland High School in 2008. He then went to college at Anna Maria College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Criminal Justice.

A swearing in ceremony takes place at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on Monday, Aug. 11,, where Officer Henderson takes the Oath of Office from Wayland Town Clerk, Beth Klein.
The hiring of Henderson brings the overall strength of the department to twenty-two. The department is authorized for 23 full-time positions and efforts are ongoing to fill the 23rd position.
