Wayland Police Log: Several Arrests (Dec. 28-Jan. 2)

The following information was supplied by the Wayland Joint Communications Center. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

  • 9 Highland Circle; Dec. 28, 11:26 a.m. – Caller reported an unidentified man attempted to open the front door of her house.
  • 106 Commonwealth Road; Dec. 28, 5:59 p.m. – A car accident occurred. One car was towed.
  • 198 Concord Road; Dec. 29, 6:52 p.m. – A caller reported a deer ran into the side of her car. It was unknown if the deer was still in the road.
  • 26 Oak Hill Road; Dec. 30, 2:57 a.m. – A Bellmawr, N.J., man was arrested. John M. Cummings, 37, of 4 Ashe Terrace, was charged with possession of a Class A drug, crystal methamphetamine, police said.
  • 6 Joyce Road; Dec. 30, 3:08 p.m. – A caller reported his mailbox was damaged sometime between midnight and 9 a.m.
  • 20 Bradford St.; Dec. 30, 9:40 p.m. – A Waltham woman was arrested following a motor vehicle stop. Julia Bertocci-Smith, 30, of 298 1/2 River St., was charged with driving with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured car and not having a license in possession. She was also charged on two outstanding warrants for driving after license suspension, speeding, and driving an uninsured and unregistered car.
  • 27 Parkland Drive; Dec. 31, 8:07 a.m. – A caller reported seeing a campsite and cooking fire at the town beach, and stated the fire was put out before fire officials arrived.
  • 6 Boston Post Road; Dec. 31, 12:43 p.m. – A car accident occurred. No injuries were reported, one car was towed.
  • 269 Main St., Dec. 31, 7:25 p.m. – A caller reported someone ringing his doorbell and then leaving.
  • 69 Rice Road, Jan. 1, 12:37 a.m. – A caller reported hearing possible gunshots in the street. Police checked the area and found no one. It is believed to have been fireworks. 
  • King Street; Jan. 1, 1:28 a.m. – A caller reported loud music in the neighborhood. Police advised residents of Mitchell Street to quiet down.
  • 27 Parkland Drive; Jan. 1, 4:35 p.m. – A person taking a walk reported hearing a child scream six or seven times at the town beach, but could not locate anyone. 
  • 99 Main St.; Jan. 1, 6:36 p.m. – A hit-and-run accident was reported.
  • 38 Cochituate Road; Jan. 2, 11:43 a.m. – Larceny under $250 was reported.
