Wayland Prepared Should a Hurricane Hit Town
The chief talks about Wayland's emergency response should a dangerous hurricane hit town.

While it’s still too early to tell to know the impact that Hurricane Joaquin could have on the East Coast, it is gathering strength and the National Weather Service is calling it extremely dangerous, elevating it to a Category 4 earlier on Thursday.
And should a storm of this magnitude hit Wayland, what is the preparation plan? We asked Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving.
“Should the forecast indicate a likelihood that the hurricane could significantly affect our area,” said Chief Irving, “the Emergency Operations Center will be opened and the Local Emergency Planning Committee will be activated to deal with all aspects of the storm, including power outages, downed trees, blocked roadways, and sheltering if necessary. The town follows the Incident Command System of emergency response.”
