Wayland Releases 2015 Water Quality Report: How Safe is the Water?

See the test results for Wayland's water in the annual water quality report released Wednesday.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland released its annual water quality report Wednesday and it looks as though residents have nothing to fear. So don't be afraid go grab a glass of crisp, clean water.

The study shows that when it comes to testing for regulated and secondary substances in tap water, Wayland had no violations.

Definitions for values used in report:

90th Percentile: Out of every 10 homes sampled, 9 were at or below this level.

AL (Action Level): The concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow.

MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level): The highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology.

MCLG (Maximum Contaminant Level Goal): The level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety.
