Wayland resident, and Executive Director of the American Camp Association, New England (ACANE), Bette Bussel helped lead the Lexington- based 5th Annual Camp Champions Celebration, which took place at Fenway Park last week. The celebration honored Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, Lisa Loeb. Not only is she an accomplished artist, but also a dedicated camp advocate. In 2008, Loeb started The CAMP LISA Foundation with the mission “to make it possible for kids, who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity, go to summer camp. At camp these kids are able to sing songs, play sports, make snacks, make friends, do arts and crafts, all the while learning about community, sharing, empathy, and having fun. The Camp Lisa Foundation aims to enrich the lives of children through the summer camp experience.” The Camp Champions evening celebrated the true spirit of camp, raising funds to help to bring the camp experience to children-in-need through the ACANE’s Campership Fund.
