Wayland Residents Updated on Raytheon Site

The town is holding its annual public involvement plan meeting.

Wayland invites residents to attend a Public Involvement Plan meeting for the Raytheon site on Boston Post Road on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Wayland Town Building.

Representatives and consultants give an update focused on the cleanup of the site, followed by a question-and-answer period, reported the Boston Globe.

Located at 430 Boston Post Road in Wayland, the property includes 83 acres, 32 of them wetlands and 42 are undeveloped grass and woodlands.

Raytheon says on its site, “Extensive investigative activities have been conducted at the Site since 1995. Results of these efforts are presented in a series of reports, which indicated environmental impacts to soil, groundwater and wetlands. These impacts do not currently pose a human health or public safety risk. Through continued, diligent assessment and remediation activities, Raytheon continues to demonstrate its commitment to the remediation of the Site and the protection of natural resources.”
