Wayland Residents Can Update Contact Info for Reverse 911 System

The October snowstorm led to changes in Wayland's reverse 911 call system.

The nor'easter that struck New England Oct. 29 led Wayland Public Safety Departments to utilize the Swiftreach Reverse 911 System several times to communicate with residents.

Wayland Police have made some changes to the system as a result of feedback received during that time.

"Feedback from residents has been positive, however, not all residents received the calls," reads a press release from the Wayland Police Department.

Wayland Police announced on their Facebook page during the storm that they were working on adjusting the system so residents could add their cell phone numbers to the contact list. That functionality is now in place.

"To address this issue, a link has been added to the Police Department page of the town’s website, which will allow residents to enter and edit their contact information," reads the press release.

The form allows residents to enter a primary phone number as well as three alternate numbers. In the press release, police recommend residents add a mobile or work number to the database.

Information entered in the form will be reviewed and then added to the system.

"We will continue to update the system to provide the community the best possible emergency notification services," says the press release.
