Wayland Student Awarded for Essay on Defeating ISIS
The award will be presented during the Memorial Day celebration at Lakeview Cemetery.

WAYLAND, MA — This year's Wayland Veterans Memorial Freedom Prize winner will be recognized for her essay on defeating ISIS.
Julia Broomer's essay titled "A Practical Approach to Defeating ISIS,” suggests a four-step plan that would help defeat the terrorist group, reported The Wayland Town Crier. In the essay Broomer suggests avoiding deploying "boots on the ground" to defeat ISIS.

Broomer will be awarded the Freedom Prize, along with $500 in prize money, during the Memorial Day celebration at Lakeview Cemetery.
The Freedom Prize is awarded each year to a Wayland student that writes the best essay about the topic of freedom, according to the Wayland Veterans Memorial page. The award was created in 2006.
