Wayland Taxes Set To Rise With Rising Property Values

The town board of selectmen unanimously voted to set the annual rate.

WAYLAND, MA- Tis the season for taxes to go up. The Board of Selectmen voted last week to set a single rate for all property types in town.

According to the Assessors office, the average residential single family assessment rose to $750,500 this year. That's a 4.85 percent increase from the last fiscal year. The increase is based on property sale prices in 2017.

According to Wickedlocal.com, the average homeowner tax bill in fiscal 2019 is $13,719, compared to $12,906 in the last fiscal year, a 6.3 percent increase.

The board unanimously rejected a commercial and residential exemption. The exemption would have shifted the tax burden among property classifications. The average commercial assessment rose by 3.6 percent bringing the average assessed value to $1.17 million. Personal property values also rose 0.8 percent.
