Wayland Town Manager Gets High Praise In Select Board's Annual Review
The evaluation, conducted by the Select Board, reviewed the Town Manager's performance across a variety of areas.

WAYLAND, MA β Wayland's Town Manager has received high marks in his annual performance review, the town announced on Tuesday.
Town Manager Michael McCall received a rating of 4.725 out of 5, according to the town. The evaluation, conducted by the Select Board on Monday, reviewed McCall across a variety of performance areas.
βThe work being done in Wayland would not be possible without the support from our exceptional staff," said McCall. "I look forward to another productive year.β

McCall became Wayland's first-ever permanent Town Manager in 2023. Before coming to Wayland, he served in that same role in Southbridge.
His appointment came after Wayland transitioned its town government to one run by a manager rather than an administrator.

The Select Board's high score meant that McCall's performances exceeded expectations in each performance area, which included his professional characteristics, professional knowledge, public relations and communications, board support and relations, organizational leadership and personnel management, financial management, planning and organization and ability to achieve goals.
Select Board members cited his dedication to serving the community by regularly holding office hours, attending community events and publishing a monthly newsletter.
The town also outlined a number of initiatives that McCall has successfully completed over the past year. that included the completion of the Green Capital Needs Assessment of Town Buildings and Fields, the grand opening of the Council on Aging and Community Center and the completion of the Community and Engagement Report, among other things.
