Wayland Veterinarian Fights Dog Ticks in Thailand
Thousands of ticks threaten the dogs of Thailand, and this Wayland veterinarian is trying to alleviate the problem.
WAYLAND, MA—Amy Shroff is a veterinarian in Wayland, and among her volunteer work is with an animal sanctuary located in Thailand. Working with Elephant Nature Park since early 2015, Shroff said the park was created initially for elephants but has also rescued dogs since the floods in Bangkok in 2011.
Not only does it shelter dogs, but with it comes thousands of ticks. In this area, these ticks carry many life-threatening diseases, and repellants are extremely expensive.
Shroff has raised more than $7,000 of her $12,000 goal on her GoFundMe fundraising page, with donations coming in as recently as days ago.
