What’s Open, Closed On New Year’s Day 2022 In Wayland

WAYLAND, MA — If you didn't already know, New Year's Day in 2022 falls on a Saturday, which means many services — like schools and government offices — wouldn't be open even without the holiday.

But the holiday will still affect the hours of some services, including libraries, transit and the postal service. Here's an overview of what's open and closed on New Year's Day in Wayland in 2022:

Wayland Free Public Library

• Closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

U.S. Mail

• No post offices open and no delivery on New Year's Day.

Coronavirus testing

• Local PCR testing sites in Framingham, Ashland and Marlborough are usually closed on Saturdays and will not be open on New Year's Day.

MetroWest Regional Transit Authority

• Fixed-route and Catch Connect service will end early on Dec. 31, and there won't be any service on Jan. 1. Regular service resumes on Jan. 3.

MBTA Commuter rail

• Regular weekend schedule on New Year's Day; all commuter rail trains are free after 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve; the Framingham-Worcester line train that typically departments at 10:55 p.m. from South Station will be held until 12:50 a.m.
