Education

The Rashi School celebrated its 40th anniversary at its Annual Dinner on April 26 at Gillette Stadium, bringing together families, alumni, educators, and supporters to honor four decades of academic excellence and values-driven education.

A highlight of the evening was the debut of “Rashi 40 at 40,” a commemorative publication featuring 40 alumni whose lives and work reflect the lasting impact of a Rashi education. Among those honored was Wellesley’s Jonah Tobin. The collection offers a snapshot of graduates making meaningful contributions across fields such as social justice, public service, the arts, and entrepreneurship—grounded in the confidence, purpose, and responsibility cultivated during their time at Rashi.

Zach Blankstein ’13 received the Stephanie Rotsky Tikkun Alum Award, which recognizes alumni who embody the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world). Established in 2012, the award honors graduates making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Blankstein is the manager of the internationally touring band Couch. Before working full-time in music, he served as a Marketing and Community Engagement Specialist at Jewish Family Service of Metrowest, amplifying the voices of individuals and families in need. He continues to advance those values through the band’s initiative, “Couch Family Photos,” which raises funds for Rosie’s Place, a Boston-based women’s shelter and multi-service organization.

Reflecting on the milestone year, Head of School Emily Charton emphasized Rashi’s mission to develop students as both “leaders and mensches,” combining academic rigor with a deep commitment to character, compassion, and community.
