πŸ“° News we're reading

β€’ 'A champion for younger writers' (yoursun.com) β€” Pulitzer Prize–winning author Annie Dillard, who kept a home in Wellfleet, died earlier this month at age 81, with her passing confirmed by her literary executor. Though much of the tribute centers on her deep ties to Key West's literary community, it also notes her Massachusetts roots and that she spent part of each year living and working from Wellfleet.

β€’ Photos: Powerful nor'easter brings massive waves, high winds to New England (wbur.org) β€” Wellfleet was hit with wind gusts over 70 mph as a rare fall nor'easter battered New England, causing flooding, power outages, and travel disruptions. Heavy rain, coastal flooding, and massive waves affected many shoreline communities, while only a few thousand customers in Massachusetts remained without power by Monday morning and a flood watch continued for the eastern half of the state.
