12 Displaced After Fire In Downtown Westborough Building

The two-alarm fire broke out in a three-story building along West Main Street on Sunday night.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Twelve people were left homeless and three injured Sunday night after a fire broke out in a three-story building along West Main Street.

Westborough firefighters responded to 5 West Main St. just after 7 p.m. Sunday and found a fire burning on the second floor. A person living in the building was trying to put out the fire.

Firefighters struck a second alarm due to the size of the building, but were able to contain the fire two apartment units in the building. The three injured people were treated at the scene and did not have to go to the hospital.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday morning, according to the Westborough Fire Department. The department estimated damages totaling about $500,000.

5 West Main St. is part of the Arcade Building and contains a shoe repair business and a salon on the first floor.
