2-Car Crash Leads to OUI Arrest, Injuries

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A two-car crash in Westborough early Saturday morning led to three being hospitalized, and one facing OUI charges.

On Saturday, April 30, at 3:12 a.m., Westborough police responded to a crash on Route 9 west at Lyman Street.

Both vehicles had extensive damage.

The first, a 2010 Ford, was driven by Kristina M. Kahale, 26, 232 Hudson St., Marlborough. The second, a 2002 Volvo, was driven by Praveen Konakanchi, 23, 293 Turnpike Road, Westborough. The passengers were identified as Hana Kahale, age 23 of 78 Hamilton St., Worcester and Nicole Hasanova, age 21 of 1 College St.Worcester. All three were treated at the scene by Paramedics from the Westborough Fire Dept. and transported to U Mass. Medical with non life threatening injuries.

Konakanchi was arrested for DUI alcohol, operating so as to endanger, speeding and failing to keep within marked lanes. He was bailed from the Westborough Police Dept. and will be arraigned in WDC on Monday morning.

The investigation revealed that the Kahale vehicle was stopped in the left turn lane and the Konakanchi vehicle crashed into the rear of the stopped vehicle.
