5 Things to Know Today: Feb. 12

A special nod of remembrance to our 16th president, author of the Gettysburg Address.

1. Today is the 202nd anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. He was born on Feb. 12, 1809. His time as the 16th president of the United States is most commonly associated with the history of the Civil War, but he is also notably the leader who signed a proclamation establishing the last Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day. He died in 1865, the first president to be assassinated.

2. The 4th Annual Hastings Winter Festival is today from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at . The family event features a magic show, games, music, prizes, crafts and more. Concessions are available. Money raised will help fund enrichment programs for the students.

3. The Lynn Jolicouer Trio will perform tonight at the . Music begins at 6:30 p.m. and features 1930’s jazz standards to contemporary jazz. The group also performs classic pop hits from artists such as The Beatles, Carole  King and Stevie Wonder.

4. Jeff Klepper will be presenting Great Jewish Stories of Rock & Roll tonight from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at . The cantor, composer and comedian has a unique perspective on the role of Jews in rock. The family show is open to all. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 18 and a family cap of $30.

5. The boys’ varsity ice hockey team takes on the team. Game time is 8:20 p.m. at in Westborough. Go Rangers!
