5 Things to Know Today: Feb. 13
Summer camp expo for children with special needs takes place today in Framingham.

1. The is taking place today at , 115A St., from noon to 3 p.m. Information is available about summer camps and recreational organizations in Massachusetts and the surrounding areas. Attendees can speak directly with representatives and get literature on programs. Admission is free. Concessions and children’s activities will be onsite.
2. Today marks the anniversary of the first published magazine in America, and it wasn’t published by Benjamin Franklin as most believe. On Feb. 13, 1741, Andrew Bradford published The American Magazine. Franklin’s General Magazine was published three days later.
3. The , 8 West Main St., is hosting the opening of today from 2 to 5 p.m. Artists Carolann Tebbets and Holly Kenny will be greeting guests at the free reception. Refreshments, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

4. Massachusetts students know history. According to the Department of Education, 20,352 Massachusetts students in the class of 2010 took at least one AP exam. The most popular choice was in U.S. History, with 6,568 students. Among states with 25 or more test takers, Massachusetts had the highest percentage of students scoring 3 or higher on the AP U.S. History exam (70.8 percent). The national average was 50 percent. Massachusetts also led the nation with the highest mean score on the AP U.S. History exam (3.3).
5. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards take place today at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, celebrating the best of recorded music, with awards in over 100 categories. The presentation will be broadcast on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. For more information on the show, visit www.grammy.com.
