5 Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 24

Hug a squirrel today. If you can teach it not to run into traffic, it should hug you.

1. October marks Squirrel Awareness Month, especially important for those who are not aware of squirrels. It is an annual October celebration marked by The Squirrel Lovers Club.  

2. The Parent Group is holidng a fundraiser with Papa Gino’s today. A percent of the Papa Gino’s sales from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. will go to the APG. Print and present the coupon so that your purchase is credited to the APG.

3. The Environmental Protection Agency’s AIRNow Program is giving Westborough a rating of 55 for the Air Quality Index today. That equates to a moderate rating. The EPA explains the rating in this way: “Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution."

4. The Friends of the Senior Center is holding the center's annual fall fair on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group is currently looking for donations for the jewelry table and for knit, crochet and craft items. Members are also soliciting items for the silent auction table. Items can be dropped off at the at any time during regular business hours.

5. The Rangers varsity soccer team is hosting St. John’s today at 3:30 p.m. Go Rangers!
