WESTBOROUGH, MA — One lucky lottery player in Westborough is starting the week with a major payday after a six-figure winning ticket was sold in town.
A $100,000 prize-winning scratch ticket was purchased on Tuesday at XtraMart at 183 Turnpike Rd. in Westborough, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. The prize came from the Lottery’s“$15,000,000 Colossal Millions” instant game, one of the state’s highest-paying scratch-off tickets.
The “Colossal Millions” game gives players several ways to win. Players can collect prizes by matching any of their numbers to the listed winning numbers, while bonus symbols, like a “gold bar” icon, can multiply winnings or unlock larger cash prizes.
The game’s top prize is $15 million, and only one player has claimed that grand prize so far, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. The odds of winning a $100,000 prize in the game are about one in 84,000.
The Massachusetts State Lottery didn't say who won in Westborough. However, the retailer that sold the winning ticket typically receives a bonus from the Lottery.
The Westborough win comes just days after another massive scratch-ticket prize was sold in Massachusetts.
A $10 million winning ticket was purchased on Friday at a Stop & Shop store in Dorchester, continuing what has been a busy stretch for Lottery winners across the state.
