Rangers Hit The Ice

WESTBOROUGH — Over 40 local families gathered at the rink this past weekend as the Westboro Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) officially ushered in the upcoming hockey season with an enthusiastic, high-energy community event.

Designed to foster a love for the sport and unite hockey fans of all ages across Westborough, the highlight of the day was a free, all-abilities skills clinic led by the Westborough High School Varsity and Junior Varsity hockey teams.

From toddlers lacing up their skates for the very first time to seasoned youth players eager to refine their edge work, young athletes took to the ice alongside high school players they look up to. The Rangers Varsity and JV rosters served as patient mentors, leading stations focused on skating fundamentals, stickhandling techniques, passing drills, and mini-scrimmages.

"Seeing our high school athletes give back to the next generation of Westborough hockey is what this program is all about," said one event organizer. "The energy on and off the ice was electric. With more than 40 families turning out, it's clear that hockey culture in Westborough is stronger than ever."

Beyond the skill-building on the ice, the event served as an important community builder. Parents cheered from the stands, connected with fellow families, and learned more about WAHA's upcoming developmental and competitive programs for the season ahead. High school players embraced their roles as local role models, sharing tips, high-fives, and encouragement throughout the session.
