All recreational activities involving water contact are prohibited during the closure, the Westborough Public Health Department.

The restrictions include swimming, wading, boating, fishing and other water-related activities. Officials said residents should keep children and pets away from the water because exposure to cyanobacteria may pose health risks.

The lake will remain closed until officials determine that conditions are safe for recreational use. The Public Health Department will continue monitoring the lake and notify the community when it is safe to reopen.
