WESTBOROUGH, MA — Two longtime town employees will retire at the end of this week after nearly seven decades of combined service to the town.
Department of Public Works employees Joe Jackman and Michael Shannon are retiring, the town announced on Wednesday. The department held a farewell celebration for the pair.
Both Jackman and Shannon work with the Westborough DPW to maintain town infrastructure and provide services to support safe, healthy and sustainable conditions in the community.
Jackman has worked for Westborough since October 1985, serving the community for more than 40 years, while Shannon joined the town in December 1999 and is retiring after nearly 27 years.
Shannon also serves as Westborough's cemetery lead person.
DPW colleagues held a farewell celebration for Jackman and Shannon Wednesday morning.
"We are grateful to Joe and Michael for their many years of hard work, commitment, and service to the Westborough community," the town wrote in its announcement on Wednesday. "Their contributions have made a lasting difference, and they will be greatly missed by their DPW colleagues."
